No, I pray hard there will be no more extensions to the terribly browser franchise. I would rather see Microsoft start afresh with a new browser, based on either the gecko or the webkit engine.

yea, HTML5 rocks! It places less importance on semantics (it don’t care of you use

), and focuses more on usability. I kind of miss XHTML though :/

And it was released shortly after the 9/11 attacks. Wow, that’s ancient history, man. Good that Microsoft will be adopting WebKit. Or better still, implement it (it will probably edit it until IE9 f@#ks up beyond any redemption again).

I read that Microsoft will adopt WebKit just like Safari and Opera. If they are, GREAT! Leaves FF alone then.

Well said, NH. IE6 is something that really need to die – to give a rough idea how old IE6 is – it was released before the first generation of iPod. And now we have iPod touch and iPhone, so I wish people are also upgrading their browsers to at least, IE7 or 8. Better: Firefox, Safari, Opera or Chrome.

The funny thing is, less than 15% of the people a study asked on the streets of New York knows what a browser is. They confuse browser with search engines. That, made me speechless. One of the smarter alec in the people proudly declared he knew what browser is, and when asked, happily said that he’s using IE6

There are too many bugs to IE6, let alone to entire code that the infamous, notorious Microsoft browser is built on. I heard rumours that IE8 will be the final version of Internet Explorer, and Microsoft will develop a new browser from ground up… I have my reservations though – like seeing how Microsoft Office 2010 (to be released alongside with Windows 7) totally ditches web standards and refuses to render HTML emails (for Outlook 2010). Even Microsoft Office 2007 is doing a better job at that.

I’m not using IE anyways but I’ve heard a lot about how bad the experience is with using the lower versions of IE. FF or Opera would be a better option.
