Web Amenities and It’s Misfortune

Long ago when I started Negaraku! I wanted to fulfill my undying hunger for quality materials. It did at first. Now that it’s useful, it’s becoming a burden to manage entries.

Pancut

Another site to note, Friendster.com. If you happened to linger about the web a lot, you’ll notice there’s many vigilante booing the social networking site. It’s ok to whine about it’s downtime, but name callings and cursings? Wow, you’d do that after serving you for so many years? Did you pay for their services?

It’s like telling the Milo-man, who gives out free helpings to exhausted athletes, their chocolate drink looked like mixed stools. Yet, you ask for a second helping.

Read, FREE. Think a little will you?

I guess it’s true, we really like to exploit free services and use it to our advantage. Just look at our parks, public toilets, phone booth, just how bad it ’stinks’? They exist (with cost of course) to make your life easier. I’m not going to be your mom and grind you to bits about civics-mindedness. For once, please be sensible

So, any future Admin candidate for Negaraku! ? Let me know.

ps: Negaraku! is a U (general) rated site. Any obscene, bad stench and the likes will be removed without prior notice.

Linked In, Thanks

Stop being humble, you are popular lah NH. My whole division reads your blog. In fact, I told them to.

Everytime someone tells me I’m popular, I’d deny as quickly as possible. It’s not an act of being humble, but to avoid deeper conversation into this petty matter. NH is a tale for my unborn kids of how their dad struggle and think during his early adulthood.

I have every reason to scared of popularity. For starters, you’ll have haters. KennySia has KennySai and DawnYang has her many lies. My hater will definitely be a Saint, he’ll be known as KomaPutih.

Popularity will eat one’s soul. The last thing I want to add to my attributes is snobbish. Although I can’t deny I am one, having more will disrupt the harmony of this shaken mind.

Ok, enough crap talking. Truth is, I’m honoured you took the time to read NH.

I feel kinda bad when people popularized me on their blog by putting up my url. Somehow I did not link them back. Not that I don’t appreciate, but I truly believe, if someone were to jump out of NH, I want them to land on a better blog. Not a crappy one that auto plays MP3 and takes forever to load.

For that reason alone, I ripped off the Lingo page and replaced with Linked. Adding links is my discretion. So please, no hair pulling is needed to be there.

New Negaraku! Fave It Button For Your Blog

New Button New button for Negaraku! project.

The old button seriously needed an upgrade. It was more of copy paste job. Not that I was lazy, but because I couldn’t understand the whole mechanism.

Now that I’ve mastered the art of PHP and CSS, I built my own sexy ‘Fave It’ button. Designed to be super fast, http caching and most importantly, doesn’t look like some plastered girl1 in spaghetti tube. I hope this design suits any blog theme, dark, bright, pink, guava green or Akon Red.

Negaraku! The Malaysian Social Bookmarking.

The idea is simple, find any character with “evb” and change to “evb2″. Alternatively, you can jump to know more. (more…)

Do You Plurk?

Some of you may have no idea what Plurk is. In short, it’s a micro-blogging platform. Like any of my obsession, this too, will fade away. But while, I’m on the bang, I might as well explain a bit.

Quickie Quick!

A very quick blow from me today.

I’ve removed all unnecessary and verbose codes on NH.  So expect fast loading site wise.

I was building an Ajax Chat plugin for WordPress, half way through, I gave up. I figure it’ll be much easier to outsource the script rather than building one from my exhausted rig. You can  see  try the Ajax Chat here.

Another thing you might notice is how I highlighted recent comments on the right bar. So feel free to gang up on each other. Let’s get this battle royal moving!!

ps: I will be an uncle in 1 week time.

Give Your Blog a New Home

If you happen to be amongst Extremist Thinker’s reader, you’ll get the following error.

Exceed Bandwidth

How could anyone ever possibly fry their bandwidth? I’ve been trying to do that since I started blogging. (Not because I want to be popular, unfortunately, but to test the server load)

Well pal, if your annual hosting is closing in, then I suggest you check out this deal by IPServerOne.

Although it is a bit expensive (RM200), but with that price tag, you get 10 domains on one account (10 www’s), 100Gb transfer and space. If you’re a cheapskate, find 9 bloggers and share the account. You’ll be paying RM20 per domain. That’s dirt cheap.

Your first bet is Lochoe and TheBanker, who is on blogspot. We (Bongkersz, aeropama, SembangKomputer, Callister, Life4Hire and NH) are against blogspot but our favorites resides there.

Here’s 7 reasons why you need to move.

  1. Most company banned blogspot.com domain, so who’s going to read your blog?
  2. Having your own domain can boost your ads click.
  3. Your own signature, style or what ever.
  4. Custom feature. Either build your own or download it.
  5.  When you earn ads, you pay your hosting. That will keep it alive.
  6. Ok, only 5, who’s counting?

Ready to jump and overthrow the bandwagon?

ps: If you think I’m just making fun of you, then I am. But I’m also telling you facts.

pss: Some of you might guess why I’m writing like this today.. if you can, please leave in the commenting area.

psss: Money will snowball to charity

Behind Those High PageRank, Alexa and Technorati

I was once an SEO slave. I wrote deceptive titles to get highly ranked on Google, Yahoo and Live. Honestly, it was just another intelligent cut and paste job.

Popularity is Bad

I was once ranked below 200,000 in Alexa. It’s nothing if no one really reads my blog.

I was once given a Google Page Rank of 6. What’s the point if sapiens doesn’t understand a word I wrote.

I was once in the top 200 sites in Malaysia. Popularity will fade away.

I once received 3,000 unique visitors a day for the entire month. It’s pointless if they don’t leave comments.

I already hit 400,000 visitors and almost fried my bandwidth. It’s an insult, 65% of them scattered away within 5 secs.

I wrote NoktahHitam for my kins. I wanted to embed the repulsive me into words. The kind of words that would require them to think. I could be asking too much.

To all those ranks, hits and traffic I’ve gained, F* it.

ps: I realized aeropama’s writing is just like NH’s, only in Malay

pss: I admire SembangKomputer’s effort. Computer is not about Myspace, Friendster and Facebook.
