Earth Hour Theme For WordPress

Last year I wrote about Earth Hour. If you still have no idea, you can watch the movie on the sidebar.

Earth Hour Wordpress

I was approached by Abinesh (he’s from WWF) to design the theme. I started this project early Feb. Somehow work comes piling up, I had to sidelined this project. Well, now it’s completed, enjoy it! (more…)

Two Screen Desktop Under RM2.5K

Update: The system is too loud! Get a CPU cooler and fans!

I’ve been whining about my Compaq, how it was being sluggish and hot at the same time. It came to a point where I procrastinate my work often, I hate getting my lefty numb.

Today, accompanied by Mr S, I bought a new system. This time it’s a desktop.

I didn’t want top of the line specs, the following month would probably slash the price down to half. The aim was simple, get desktop with 2 screens under RM 2.5k.

Desktop Config

Achieved and very satisfied.

  • AMD X2 7750 2.7 Ghz - RM 250
  • AsusM2N68-AM - RM 170
  • Asus EAH4350 512Mb -RM 160
  • Kingston DDR2/800 4Gb - RM170
  • 500Gb Hard Disk - RM 190
  • DVD Writer - RM75
  • Computer Casing - RM95
  • BenQ T2200HD 22″ LCD - RM550 x 2

Total: RM 2.2K, with RM300 spare cash, I opted a wireless Logitech Ex110 keyboard mouse.

After a few hours of experimentation, I dare to say, I’m never going back to a single screen setup. It’s too unproductive!

full-screen.jpgThe down side, I have be extra sensitive when building web or graphics design and I can’t be in bed while working

ps: I forgot to buy speakers! Everything’s on mute now

Open Source CMS, For or Against?

If you happened to be a web developer, you’ll know what I mean.

open-or-close.png

There’s this big account that landed on my door step. They wanted me to redesign their Content Management System. The problem is, I have never used the CMS they mentioned.

Any laymen would see a 5 digit job a jack pot. Not me.

Here’s the problem. (more…)

Congratulations! You’re No.1 on Google!

2009 didn’t kick off well for me. I had an unfortunate incident when the clock stroked midnight. But who cares?

Laman7 No 1 on Google

Here’s a great start for me. No 1. on Google Malaysia.

I’d be lying if I’m not excited. In fact, I’m so happy that I’d run naked across the neighborhood but they’ll probably call the police, reporting some serial rapist on the loose. So I’ll just hang on to that idea.

The term “web design” and “web developer” is probably the toughest to break through to the No 1. spot. It could be an overnight result, it could for the whole week. I don’t care. I’ve made it, and this is my bragging rights.

Congratulate me, because I’m PURE AWESOME!

Malaysia Web DesignMalaysia Web Developer

It probably meant nothing to you, but to me, it justifies my existence!

ps: It’s time to update the company portfolio

pss: Berlagak? Nah, this is not showing off, it’s a statement

psss: Let’s just hope it stays for a few weeks

pssss: Like always, grace to the Almighty

Click it Like You Mean It

Like most of you who reads NH routinely, I too, have my need for capati and teh tarik daily.

I read blogs to clear my mind from winded programming and stupid-CSS-don’t-want-to-follow-me. To rejuvenate and expand my depth of knowledge. Most of the time to procrastinate my never ending pile of work.

Some I follow dearly, some casually. But if I like an article, I’d click the ads on my way out. To me, that’s one way of showing support other than commenting.

  • Moral support - Leave comments related to the topic
  • Mental support - Argue, no low blow or help trash others
  • Physical support - Traffic gained or recommend to friends
  • Monetary support - Click the bloody ads

If you like a particular blogger or an article good enough to raise an eyebrow. Don’t hesitate, just click it and consider coffee’s on you, because they spent an excruciating amount of time penning it down.

Besides, what other ways for you to get back to the overly quote multi-national company? Exactly, make them spend more. So click happily

ps: I’m not telling you to click on NH’s ads, but I’d be delighted if you did :XO:

Kakiis.com - Bad Advertisement

Like my usual routine. Log in to Negaraku.net! and moderate it’s content. Saving parents from answering the what-is-minyak-lintah from their toddlers. Yes, Negaraku! is U rated, thanks to yours truly.

Bad Advertisement

Until I came across Kakiis.com advertisement.

I don’t know about you, but I see something terribly wrong with the banner. Allow me to demonstrate.

“You’ll fit in easily” That sounds pretty much like a condom advertisement. Notice the Two human like “connected” or rather “entangled”? It spells intimacy more than Tetris block. The rest of the text seconds the idea.

A bit of wand waving, whipped cream and chocolate rice, we get the following (more…)

Serious Security Flaw Found in IE

Users of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer are being urged by experts to switch to a rival until a serious security flaw has been fixed. Source BBC.

Goodbye Internet Explorer

IE cake in the browser market roughly equates to 75%. Now there’s an obvious reason why you have to switch browser.

For once, we can have better looking web on Opera, Firefox, Safari and Chrome. That’s a smile on every web developer’s face.

ps: Even if they fixed it, will you use it? I certainly won’t.

pss: Please vote on Negaraku! or Click here.
