Samsung Galaxy S II is the way to go. I believe the spec and buzz word around it speaks for itself. I’m pretty sure most tech geek would agree with me (excuse the Apple fans of course). It has large screen display, thin and light, most importantly very durable as I have the tendency to throw my phone when anger strikes (not really).

Samsung Galaxy S 2 or SGS2 is very well known for it’s huge AMOLED screen, but this also pose a bigger threat especially when falling down. Bigger screen = bigger impact.

Fortunately, SGS2 is sturdy enough to withstand the impact. (If I had one SGS2, I definitely wouldn’t want to try to do a drop test)

Another cool feature of the phone, is it’s integration with the home appliance, the LCD TV. You can sit anywhere and control the TV via WiFi. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any video that shows DLNA technology. Using DLNA, you can make your TV play the content of your mobile phone. This means you don’t have to plug in USB at the back of your TV anymore and just let it stream through Samsung Galaxy S 2.

I like efficiency. If you’re like me, then SWYPE is a no brainer. It’s the best feature ever introduced to Samsung Galaxy S2. I won’t say that it’s exactly new, but definitely a better appreciation of touch technology. Try it, you might like it too.

Samsung Galaxy S2 also features a monstrous processor. This means launching apps takes very little effort. Couple that with HSPA, this makes S2 one of the best gadgets for social networking as well as entertainment.

The large screen depics 800 x 480 pixel resolution. That is seriously pixel-packed screen. I’m not sure whether it can play full Hd 1080p smoothly, but I bet the quality would be out of this world! I know I’d be reading manga all the time

I know, 24 months seems like a long time, but the upside is, Celcom has the widest 3G coverage in Malaysia and they continue to expand their network (I am a Telco Consultant by profession, I’m not spewing bulls here). They also won the best Telco provider for 2010.

I wished they released Galaxy Tab way earlier in April/May before I got my iPad. Now, after buying so many apps, I’m trapped. Selling my iPad would mean losing the paid apps. Urgghh.. tensi tensi.

If you ask me, iPad or Galaxy tab? I’d go for tab, not because I’m being paid to write about it. It’s because you get much better flexibility on Android platform rather than on iOS which is kinda limited. Gaming wise, I’d say most developer are starting to port iOS to Android and vice-versa.

As for the battery life, both performs about the same. I had the Galaxy tab for about 2 weeks and I’ve only charged it 4 times I think. Which is about the same as my iPad.

Browser, now you can’t argue with me on this. Safari on iPad sucks and it doesn’t play flash. Which also means you can’t view other video sites other than Youtube. Some housing developers also uses Flash to portray their designs etc. I actually had to get up from the bed and key in the link on my desktop, which actually defeats the purpose of owning a tablet. So yes, Android wins.

ps: I’ve got the invitation, but I reckon I’m too busy to shuffle between hands.

Few weeks back I was summoned by Samsung and Celcom to drop by at their office and to get a hold of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Seriously, it’s drop dead gorgeous. It definitely beats the junk out of other android tablets.

If you’re looking forward for me to compare Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 against iPad2, I suggest you look elsewhere. The whole purpose of having a tablet is a substitute for mobile computing with some mobility. So between Android and iOS, it’s like saying “same shit different day”.

The unit handed to us was the 3G version. I didn’t check the space it had because I had no idea how to. The unit wasn’t meant to be brought home, at least not that day. (I actually have one in my hand right now )

Ok, maybe a little comparison, the right is a product of a fruit company and the left is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Beaten marginally by 1mm (at least to the naked eye). Very nice piece of engineering.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is well proportioned and uniform in size. Unlike some tablets, they kinda have nasty curves and doesn’t feel right. The screen ratio is 16:9 somewhat pleasing if you plan on using it as your entertainment hub.

There’s a few accessories lined up already for the tablet, a very optimistic and confident move.

Final words, Celcom will be bringing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to our shore. As for the launching date, I guess it’ll be shortly after Raya. I hope it doesn’t happen on the day I’m getting married. I’m not going to line up with tanjak on my head and keris in my waist.

ps: Macbook Air update, left palm feels a little numb due to heat. I guess it’s why I prefer desktop than laptops.
